General Community Update

Dear Residents, 

I wanted to provided you with an update of the work I have been completing over the past couple of weeks.  

I have continued to focus on issues being raised by residents, particularly around road safety, speeding and anti-social behaviour involving e-scooters.

Road Safety & Speed Checks
Speed checks were carried out across the local area on 27 September and again on 5 October. During these checks, a number of drivers were dealt with for traffic offences. 

Road safety remains an important priority, and I will continue to carry out visible patrols and checks in areas where concerns have been raised by residents.

E-Scooters
During the last two weeks, I have dealt with two young people riding privately owned e-scooters in high brooms. 

Privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be ridden on public roads or pavements. I will continue to challenge their use and engage with young people and parents around the law and the associated safety concerns.

High Brooms Community Larder
Last Friday, I attended the Community Larder in High Brooms. This was a very successful visit with lots of positive engagement. It was a great opportunity to speak directly with local residents, listen to concerns and provide advice and reassurance.

School Visit
I also recently visited a local primary school in Southborough, where I spoke with children in Reception. There was some fantastic engagement, and the children even had the opportunity to see a police vehicle, which proved very popular!

With the darker evenings and colder weather now arriving, please take a few extra precautions. Make sure your home, vehicle and outbuildings are secure, use lights or timers if you're away from home, and wear something bright or reflective when walking or cycling after dark.
